Let us look at another mental metaphor, to assist understanding.
The Gödel diagrams showed the Complete System,
Which contained all the different types of Consistent Systems.
While each of these Consistent Systems is based upon Mathematical Logic,
The Complete System,
While containing all the Logical Systems
Based upon deductive and inductive logic,
Can’t be entirely logical herself -
Because She, the Mother, the Complete System, contains Paradox.
While all of her Sons, the Consistent Systems,
Born of trying to understand her,
Are Logical.
They are incomplete.
Something is Missing.
While some of her Sons think that
They will eventually be able to completely understand their Mother,
Others have proved that it is impossible -
At least while the Logic filter is on.
The Mother System is not that Logical, herself –
Too many contradictions -
Because she embraces Paradox -
In order to love all her sons -
Who many times disagree about many things.
However she is very Intuitive.
This means that she takes input from many sources -
All of her children - including the instinctual levels,
To make her decisions.
Let’s personify the Instinctual as the Daughter.
The Sons and Daughters don’t complete the Mother.
We also require a Father - to complete the Metaphor.
The Father is the Little Voice, the Emergent Principle, Subconscious Processes -
Heaven, the Universe, God -
The Impregnating Force with the Mother as a Ground -
As a base for his creativity.
Both Mother and Father are necessary for Creation to Happen.
A model, which conveys the mixture of elements, is shown below.
The Fish eyes, as mentioned, are the Emergent Principle,
Which allow the blending of Logic & Instinct -
The Black and White Fish -
To Reach Transformational Levels.
While the above diagram conveys the Mixture quite well, it creates the Illusion of Separation, which is somewhat addressed in the Diagram below
There is a roughly drawn tube, which connects the Black & White Fish Eyes -
In a paradoxical, impossible, contradictory fashion -
This is the Emergent Principle - Life.
This is what we are trying to cultivate.
The Intuitive Decision, at least according to this model, is based upon a combination of Logic, Instinct, and Internal Listening to the Little Voice (the Subconscious) - which is also connected with letting the Emergent Principle manifest itself without getting in the way. Hence the decision making process is probabilistic rather than deductive. Because of the inherent ambiguity of probabilistic decisions, any Logical system has a hard time understanding - incomplete within themselves - only seeing one part of the picture - from their point of view - diligently following a single strain - like the hunting dog pursuing game - sometimes to their own demise.
One must free oneself to sense a right decision - Break the Trance - Rather than always attempting to make logical choices. It’s time we begin thinking outside the Logical Box.
However before we can think outside the Logic Box - we must really want to.
Many of us are addicted to Logic
And make him the Master of the Mother rather than her Servant.
Our culture itself tends to belittle Intuition -
Associating her with superstition and primitive thought -
Derogatorily calling her ‘women’s logic’.
Further it elevates Logic - calling it the King of Light -
That which banishes Intuition,
Rather than that which aids Intuition.
Mistaking Servant for Master,
We have placed one of the Logically Consistent Systems is in charge -
Even though he is not all there -
A little crazy, a mite obsessive, missing certain pieces -
A lot to offer -
But should never be in charge -
Too anal retentive.
In summary, Intuition is the Complete System that combines Instinct, Logic and their Mixture. The Mixture of Logic and Instinct is the Emergent Phenomenon of the Little Voice (Subconscious Processes).
Intuition = Instinct + Logic + Logic * Instinct
or
Intuition = Instinct + Logic + Little Voice
